Q & A :: Andrew Graham

Nonpareil model Andrew happily answered our questions, too!

T d l M :: What do you enjoy most about being a model?

Andrew :: It is challenging in a positive way to understand the looks and the characters I have to portray… what they are supposed to look like. I have to realise and consider how certain movements and expressions affect the way people perceive me, how something I want to communicate changes me physically. That’s what I most enjoy.

T d l M :: How did you become part of the T d l M ‘Nonpareil’ team?

Andrew :: I know Carlos’s girlfriend, she is a dancer, like me. We did some modelling together in the past and she said Carlos was looking for someone for the Nonpareil shoot. I was asked to come to meet Chris to see if he would be happy with me and that’s how things came together.

T d l M :: What did you bring to Nonpareil?

Andrew :: I really tried to listen to what I was asked to do, but your own interpretation is always important. I looked at it through the eyes of a dancer, thinking of rhythm and dancing techniques and thought a lot about what impression I make on the audience. Also, I felt very aware of the clothes and easily got in the mood they are supposed to represent.

T d l M :: What did you gain from the Nonpareil experience?

Andrew :: I don’t know yet what I’m taking away from it. Maybe it would have been a good thing to think about that before, but I didn’t do it. It was much cooler than any other model jobs I’ve done before. I enjoyed working with people my age, because there was room for discussions, even though we all had different roles, which you normally don’t really have in fashion. Maybe because modelling is not my actual profession, I didn’t feel much pressure. The shoot was a chance for me to represent myself without the expectations people have from a professional model. I did this with passion.
