Q & A :: Jo Simpson
T d l M :: What do you enjoy most about being a stylist?
Jo :: Working with different people, collaborating on different projects and trying to inject a bit of my personality into the image. I like the fact that every day is different and I love building up relationships with people over a series of different seasons. This is my first season with Chris, but we will work together over the next couple of years and I can bring in different contributors as well.
T d l M :: How did you become part of the T d l M ‘Nonpareil’ team?
Jo :: I met chris at a B-Store party in the summer and we recognised each other. We realised that we live close to each other and that we both know the same people. Eventually we decided to work together on this project.
T d l M :: What did you bring to Nonpareil?
Jo :: I personally love unisex clothing and I prefer styling mens collections. and I’ve brought in Kuni Awai, who has collaborated woth TdlM and made belts for the look book and the film. She works at T&F Slack as a consultant, so they gave us the shoes for the lookbook and next season Chris is going to collaborate with them for a shoe collection.
We basically used three key colours of the collection for the film and the look book, a whole balck look, a whole green look and a blue look. I've mixed the colours for a nice autumn/winter mood.
T d l M :: What did you gain from the Nonpareil experience?
Jo :: I've met a great new team of people, who I think I'll work with in the future. It was really fun and enjoyable, it’s been a great work environment, every body has got nice energy! Also, I’m really intrigued to see how it’s all coming together with the film, the paper sculptures and the look book. It’s gonna be really exciting! I'm looking forward to hearing the feedback from people because it think it’s a really strong collection. It's been a really enjoyable experience working with Chris. Its like a little family, his front door is always open, there are constantly interesting people coming into the studio.
